How to Purchase Auto Parts for Your Vehicle
Car
Many people go into an auto part store to purchase automotive parts for their vehicle and don't have the correct information pertaining to their vehicle. First you need to know the name of the part you want to purchase. Now you need to know the year, make and model of your vehicle. This is very important; you need to know exactly what size engine you have. Many people will say it's a six cylinder. This doesn't work any more; because today they make several six cylinders. So you will need to know exactly which motor you have in your vehicle. Possibly you will need to have the Vin. number from your vehicle. For example if you have a Nissan almost always you will be asked for a Vin. #. Sometimes you will need to know the wheel base and possibly the size tire. My business has experienced this. I will tell you where to find this information.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:
· Year
· Make
· Model
· Engine Size
· Vin. #
· Wheel Base
· Tire size
1. Step 1
Driver's Door Open
First for the year, make and model of your vehicle. You can look on your insurance card for this information. Also open your driver's door and you will find the exact production date on the sticker. On the body of your vehicle you will find make and model. Your Vin # is also on your insurance card. If your insurance card is not available to you at the present time; than look at the windshield. You will find the Vin # in the lower corner on the driver's side of the windshield.
2. Step 2
Look Under Car Hood For Engine Size
Now you want the exact engine size of your vehicle. For this you will need to open the hood of the automobile. In most cars today you will find a lever inside the car; on the driver's side. Possibly will say hood release. Pull the lever. Than go to the front of the vehicle and reach under the hood to find a lever and will require you to pull to the right or pull lever upward to release the hood all the way and lift up. Now you are looking for a sticker that is going to tell you the engine size of the vehicle.
3. Step 3
Start At Front Tire To Measure Wheel Base
Now if you need to know the wheel base of your vehicle; this information can be found on the inside of the driver's door. If not there than you will need a measuring tape and possibly another person to help hold the measuring tape at one end. You want to measure from front wheel to the rear wheel of the vehicle. From center of hub cap (front wheel) to the center of the hub cap (rear wheel).
4. Step 4
Tire Information
To find your tire size; you need to look at the tire. The size will be on the tire and will look something like this. (example only P185 65R 14)Also if you look on the inside of driver's door you will find this information also.
